Interviews

By jude • • 19 Feb 2010

Recently, in the guise of being an interviewer, I’ve been to New York with Justin Timberlake for Elle; a Mayfair penthouse with Tony Bennett for The Word; a Camden pub with Guy Garvey for Red (pages 2 and 3 here); a Barbican restaurant with About Group for The Guardian; a Covent Garden bar, to scoff Welsh rarebit, with Allison Pearson; a Worlds End council flat with Molly Parkin; and wrote my first style magazine cover story, for The Gentlewoman, after spending a morning with the amazing Adele (pages 2, 3, 4 and 5 here).

In the last few years, I’ve also been made tea by Tony Benn in his own kitchen, been sweet-talked (unsuccessfully) by a member of Girls Aloud and made an enemy of Ben Goldacre. I’ve also seen hotel rooms with Suede, Cat Power and Lily Allen; hotel bars with Joanna Newsom, Wanda Jackson, Will Young, Graeme Garden and Jackie De Shannon; backstage with Grizzly Bear and Sheridan Smith; cafes with Laura Marling, Corinne Bailey Rae and Diana Vickers; a Somerset studio with Goldfrapp; a Lewes pub with Shirley Collins, and the rainy Anstruther seafront with James Yorkston, on a car bonnet, eating chips. More exotic jaunts include a trip to Nashville, Tennessee with Robert Plant and Alison Krauss; Denton, Texas with Midlake; Munich with James Blunt, and the Faroe Islands with Teitur. I have also nosed around the houses of Graham Coxon and Peter Tatchell, while – as in all above cases – reminding myself I have to do some work.

So if you would like me to nose around someone else’s house for money, then email me here.
